Fantastic little red dot, July 31, 2011 - By J. W. Mullins (West, by God, Virginia) I had spent a fair amount of time reading various reviews before buying the SPARC through Vortex's military sales. Most people seemed to have be very happy with it and worst case scenerio it would go back to Vortex. After using it for the last few weeks though I don't see that happening.The SPARC often gets compared to the similar sized and shaped Aimpoint T1/H1. You will often read reviews saying 'just as good as the Aimpoint'. The fact of the matter is that it isn't, but that is fine. The vast majority of people who use either the SPARC or T1 aren't putting it on their rifle and then marching off to combat. They are putting it on a rifle and taking it to the range or to compeition. So you don't always need the awesome reliability and ruggedness you would need in something that is going to see combat use and you may bet your life on. So for the large demographic of shooters there in the middle the SPARC is a fantastic option at a great price point.The glass is good, the dot is bright and crisp. The controls are easy and well laid out. For those who want the option to use the sight with night vision, you can. Another great selling point is that it comes with three different mounts and a spacer. Which in all gives you six different hight mounting options.For those who would like another mounting option the SPARC will fit the same mounts as the Aimpoint T1/H1, so Larue, Midwest and a dozen others are out there. The SPARC can also be used with Butler Creek flip up lens covers if the shooter wants, in which case the #4 fits both ends.All in all I have been impressed with the sight and it has handled the few bumps and drops I've subjected it to so far without issue. Comparing it to other similar sized and priced mini red dots I found it more rugged than the Leupold Deltapoint and Burris Fastfire.
