Magpul trigger guard - hex screw problem, January 16, 2011 - By Sunny D "StarBucks Addict"-
The Magpul MOE polymer trigger guard is tough and light. It comes with a 1/6" metal hex screw and metal rod for installation. Since the polymer material is a tough material, I had problems screwing on the hex screw when mounting it on my AR15. There were no threads on the hole of the trigger guard where the hex screw goes in. I was left with a tiny hex wrench to push the small hex screw and make the threads while installing the trigger guard. The hex wrench stripped before screwing the hex screw all the way in. This was not an easy drop-in replacement. The stock trigger guard was easier to manage that the Magpul MOE polymer trigger guard. The stock trigger guard on my AR15 has a spring which can be easily pushed for disassembly after popping out the rear metal rod. I took a longer small screw to make some threads on the hole of the trigger guard where the hex screw will be installed. What if I can't find the right screw size to make the threads? I'll be screwed for sure. I took a long nose pliers to turn the hex screw half way in to the trigger guard which was not an easy task at all...Overall, the Magpul MOE polymer trigger guard is made from tough material but the installation procedure can be a pain. Buy it if you have a 1/6" hex wrench that will not strip easily.

Couldnt be more simple to install or use... I just dont know why it doesnt use the same ball/spring connection as the factory trigger guard? I'm sure to save costs... The roll pin/ allan screw did work fine however.
